Employees
of Solid Waste Management Division
(Fairfax, VA – April 4, 2008) — Gershman, Brickner & Bratton, Inc. (GBB) announced today the launch of the Guam Solid Waste Receivership Information Center Website (http://www.GuamSolidWasteReceiver.org). The resource provides information and documents on the progress of the project; receivership; court orders; Guam Solid Waste management department; along with contact information and answers to frequently asked questions. Updated on a regular basis, the Website will be a key information resource for Guam’s government, the Solid Waste Management Division, the people of Guam, solid waste companies, the media, and stakeholders interested in up-to-date information about the progress of the establishment of a long-term, financially viable and sustainable waste management system for Guam.
Included on the Website are letters sent by David L. Manning to the Honorable Felix P. Camacho, Governor of Guam, and to each employee of the Solid Waste Management Division of the Guam Department of Public Works.
"Prior to coming to Guam, our plans are to undertake a complete review of the work already performed by the Government of Guam, building on that work to develop and successfully execute a plan to achieve full compliance with the requirements of the Consent Degree,” states Mr. Manning, GBB’s Receiver, in his March 18, 2008 letter to the Governor. "While this review is underway, we ask that the Solid Waste Management Division of the Department of Public Works continue, without interruption, its daily services to the citizens of Guam. We also ask that all work to acquire the needed land for the new landfill, including the required land for access roads, continue without interruption. Finally, we ask that additional work on the projects needed to achieve compliance with the Consent Decree be placed on hold pending completion of our initial review.”
In a letter entitled "Our Work Together” sent to each employee of the Solid Waste Management Division, on March 19, 2008, Mr. Manning states: "We want to work with you, to learn from you and to assure you that you have nothing to fear from the Receivership. It is our goal to make the Solid Waste Management Division a better place for you to work and to give you the tools to provide the citizens of Guam with the quality services they deserve. Our goal is to start fresh and have an organization that is supported and serves the needs of the community.”
