Guam Solid Waste Authority Launches New Website

(Guam, February 6, 2012) – The Guam Solid Waste Authority (GSWA) today announced the launch of its new independent website at www.guamsolidwasteauthority.com. The website is dedicated to providing information about the services offered by GSWA, including Residential Trash Services; Residential Transfer Stations; Household Hazardous Waste Facility; Bulky and Metallic Waste Collections; Recycling; Layon Landfill; Commercial Disposal Accounts; and Hauler Transfer Station.

The website also provides news directly related to GSWA and its services; resources to help residents keep Guam clean and beautiful now and for future generations; and contact information.

"As GSWA was created, and major milestones achieved throughout 2011, the next logical step is to have a standalone website solely dedicated to the activities of GSWA and its mission to provide efficient trash disposal services for paying customers,” said Receiver Representative David L. Manning. "The Guam Solid Waste Receivership Information Center (www.guamsolidwastereceiver.org), launched in April 2008, remains an important source for information related to the Receivership. Both websites are linked to each other to ensure that visitors can easily access information about both GSWA and the Receivership.”

About GSWA
The GSWA is a public agency, autonomous from the government of Guam per Public Law 31-20. The agency is a totally self-funded operation whose mission is to help its customers dispose of their trash in an environmentally safe and regulated manner. Each week, GSWA employees collect curbside trash from approximately 17,000 GSWA customers. GSWA also receives trash collected by commercial haulers and transported to the Hauler’s Transfer Station. In all, the GSWA handles approximately 85,000 tons of material a year. GSWA diverts material away from the landfill through services such as the Bulky and Metallic Waste curbside collection, recycling facilities at the Residential Transfer Stations, and prohibition of certain recyclables from being disposed at the Layon Landfill.
