Federal Receiver Awards Contract to Hawaiian Rock Products for Dero Road Rehabilitation

(Guam, April 13, 2016) – Federal Receiver Gershman, Brickner & Bratton, Inc. (GBB) today announced that it has awarded a contract to Hawaiian Rock Products for pavement rehabilitation and stormwater improvements for Dero Road. This work will repair years of damage done by large trash trucks during the time the Ordot Dump was an active disposal facility and the damage done as a result of the recent construction activity necessary to environmentally close the Ordot Dump. The work includes shoulder-to-shoulder repaving of Dero Road, beginning just before the new pump station to the westernmost boundary of the Ordot Dump property. In addition, necessary improvements to properly manage stormwater on Dero Road will also be constructed.

This project is in compliance with the Order of the District Court of Guam issued on May 1, 2015. The work will be coordinated with Mayor Gogue who has been of invaluable assistance as this project has been developed. Every effort will be made to minimize any inconvenience to those who live on, or travel along, Dero Road.

The contract is the result of a competitive bid process. Hawaiian Rock Products bid $1,768,888 in its successful bid. Work is anticipated to begin in approximately three weeks and should be completed in six months, assuming no unanticipated problems are encountered.
